Towed

This post is inspired by a recent personal encounter. I was driving home from work a few days ago when my car began malfunctioning and eventually gave out on me. It completely stopped and I could not get it to crank back up. So, here I am in the middle of traffic-ridden lane without a clue as to what to do. Thankfully, a nice man helped me get it on the side of the road. So, there I sit waiting for a tow truck to arrive. At that point, my phone was about to die so there was not much to do but think.

It made me think of our journey in life. Sometimes, you may get to a point when you cannot function on your own. To tow is “to pull or haul by a rope, chain, or other device.” When the tow truck driver came, I watched as he carefully hooked the chain underneath the car, to avoid causing any further damage. He then instructed me to get inside, put the car in neutral, and eased it onto the platform. Then, he had me to get back into the car and straighten the steering wheel, so that when it was time to roll it off, he could get it off smoothly. There comes a time when you need to relinquish control and allow God to lift you up and carry you to the next point. You may feel like you are in chains or in bondage. Do not allow this stage to make you hopeless. Fret not. There is a higher power that loves and cares for you, that will be sure that the process does not cause you any irreparable damage. Sometimes, you cannot get to the next level on your own. In the process, he will hold you and delicately place you there. So, in the end you will know that it was not you. But, instead a power much greater than you that delivered you.

Keep Climbing,

Marriah
