When You're Feeling Low

For this particular post, I decided to try something new. I recently had a message from one of my blog readers asking for advice. As I prayed over a response, I found that God was not only speaking through me to reach her, but he was also ministering to me. With that in mind, I figured it would also be helpful to you all. You can read it below.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have found the best way to make it through day to day troubles is to rely on the promises of the Lord and to do your best to stay connected to him. This requires to dedicate time EVERY DAY to spend time with him. Even if it means uttering a prayer at the bus stop, stop light, or turning off the Tv to meditate on scripture. The more in sync you are with God, the more you will hear his voice above the clamor of everyday life. You have to be intentional about tuning your ear to him. I was walking to my car after class today with my book bag filled, a tote, and a book in tow. The walk from school to my car is 3-5 minutes max. But, as I carried all of the stuff I felt like I would never make it to my car because I was carrying such a heavy load. But, I kept telling myself “You are almost there, keep pushing.” With each step I was closer to my destination, then I was moments before. Same with your current situation, with all of your familial issues it may seem like you will never make it, but you have to commit yourself to keep pushing. Why?

I. God is watching over you

Take a look at Psalm 121. This passage of scripture tells us that our help comes from the lord. More importantly, “He will not let your foot slip---he who watches over you will not slumber.” This is so comforting because it assures us that the Lord is attentive to your needs and never takes a break! Not even to sleep. Although, you are going through difficult times right now, he will not allow you to fall. This does not mean the absence of troubles, but it means he is always there waiting to step in. But, the key is to acknowledge his presence.

II. God is always with you

Take a look at Joshua 1. After the death of Moses, God selected Joshua to be Moses Successor and to lead the people across the Jordan River. Now, although we do not see the entire conversation between Joshua and God. It seems that Joshua was doubtful in his abilities or did not think he could handle it. You see God here encouraging him as he tells him in verse 9. “Have I not commanded you? Be Strong and courageous. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

III. He will give you strength

As humans, we lose strength especially if we insist on relying on our own self. But the awesome thing is that in Isaiah 40:31 we learn that “Our strength is renewed in him.” In order for something to be renewed, what does that mean to you? That is runs out, right? So, in this life we have those weak moments. The important thing, though, is to remember who we live for. Another Scripture of reference is Phillippians 4: 11-13. “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ,[a] who gives me strength.”

I know it seems like there are so many things against you, but you must keep one thing in the forefront. GOD IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU. Yes, your family may be going through their own issues, but you must #1 pray for them and be try your hardest not to take on their burdens and also you need to remember who you are living for, Yes, our family has been ordained by God. But, we are called to live a life for Christ and to let our light shine before men so that they may see the good in us and know that it comes from the lord. It gets hard, trust me I know. But, it also may be good for you to find a healthy outlet. Mine is journaling. Other peoples are dancing, exercising, singing, etc. You were placed on this Earth for a purpose and each day you are provided with gifts when you open your eyes and have breath to accomplish what God has willed for your life. It’s easier to be content when you rejoice in that.

Keep Climbing,

Marriah
